Payton Miller-Kay Public Relations Coordinator 31 August 2022
July & August ASB Report
Position Assessment: Throughout the month of August Katie, my fellow Public Relations Coordinator, and I have been working to communicate with the student body. We began this school year by learning how to keep our school engaged with events during our job training at Core Camp and worked on our gift to camp by creating a video recap of the experience. Then we worked to publicize upcoming events with social media posts and announcements for Red and White Fridays, Club Rush kickoff, Club Rush spirit days, club sign ups at lunch, and the Back To School Dance. During Club Rush Katie and I ran the yoga club table, encouraging others to join. We also helped the Spirit Commissioners with taking spirit counts for each of the Club Rush spirit days. Also, we were both a part of the poster committee so we went to school in the morning and created different types of posters for the black light rally. Those postes were then reused at the dance along with more posters that Katie and I made separately. In regards to the dance I helped to set up the posters and stayed afterward to help clean up and put everything back to the way it was. Currently, we are working to create posts from upcoming events and have been working on decorations for the themed football games. Standing Committee: I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committee: I was the committee head for dance/rally posters where we made posters for our school, the senior stampede, and the neon dance. This was done in the morning before school by the storage room and everyone made sure to clean up our supplies when we were done. Mentorship Evaluation: I have really enjoyed this mentorship program. This year I am Elias Ramirez’s mentor. I feel like Elias and I have really gotten to know each other better in the past month or two with core camp and leadership training. He’s very passionate about our leadership program which is something that I admire. As a mentor I have done my best to help him in any ways that I can with things such as paperwork, tips with spirit counts, and how to set up your website. I’m really looking forward to seeing us grow this school year! Concerns: Although leadership can not control this I’m worried about the impact online ID’s will have with students attending our events. I noticed that for the Back to School Dance many people had a hard time pulling up the link to show the current ID so I don’t want it to become an issue to prevent people from being included in events. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Allie Camara. I was able to work with her last year being a Spirit Commissioner and I’m really proud to see all of the hard work she has been putting in to getting the new spirit commissioners on track for the year. She’s really stepped up in her role teaching the newbies, organizing spirit counts, and working on new spirit clothing. One Change: One change I would like to see is people going outside of their “click”. I have started to notice that I am guilty of mainly connecting with the same people and I think others have too. It would be good if we were able to go outside of our circle and get to know the other people in the leadership program. My Impact: I have impacted this campus and my peers by helping anyone I can whether it’s leadership related or just life. I have been going out of my way to make sure that others are doing okay and if not I try to be there to support them with whatever is going on.
September & October ASB Report
Payton Miller-Kay Public Relations Coordinator 16 October 2022
Position Assessment: Throughout the months of September and October it was filled with many homecoming activities and events. To begin, we started planning as a class what we would do with each class competition and decoration. We started on our lemonade stand, float, poster, gym decorations and choreographing the night rally performance at the beginning of October. Along with assisting our class we created social media posts through the publicity committee for things like the night rally and homecoming king and queen voting. With this we also made sure to publicize miscellaneous spirit days such as croc day, college spirit day, and friday red and white. Throughout the week of homecoming we participated in events such as spirit days, the night rally, the parade, and working to get the school involved. Standing Committee:I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committee: During homecoming I participated in many committees for my class including the lip sync, float, and lemonade stand along with the publicity committee for the school and gym decorations. Mentorship Evaluation: I’ve really enjoyed the mentorship program this year and I hope that it will be able to continue for future years. I’ve personally noticed it helps out a lot of the newer people in the program and gives people in the program someone they can go to for help with having to feel scared. I like that we are able to sit with our mentors a lot because it gives us the chance to bond more with each other without it feeling forced. Concerns: One concern that I have is with the way that others act about our events. When people in leadership show no interest in participating in activities or instigate others to be negative about them it makes not only the person look bad but also the program. You shouldn’t have to bring down something to make yourself seem better. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Ava Brocchini. She did so much for the junior class and really stepped up. Ava has become someone that I really enjoy being around and I always take interest in her wise ideas and opinions. One Change: One change I would like to see if with the rubrics and grading for each class during homecoming. I know that with many of the class competitions there confusion involved with the placing so I think that knowing initially what the judges are looking for would be helpful with everyones’ success and also being able to see why a class got the score they did so they can then use it to improve and grow for the next year. My Impact: I have been able to make an impact by getting others to be involved at Ripon High School. Homecoming has many different opportunities to offer and I believe in making the most of each and every one.

November ASB Report
Position Assessment: As Public Relations Coordinators Katie and I have not had many responsibilities retaining our position however we have been doing all that we can to help our class. I attended the Winterfest meeting with the junior class as we discussed decorations and our plans for the week. The junior class is starting to get things prepared so that we can complete each activity, competition, and event properly and successfully. I also created a list of songs that could be used if we were to have a night rally so that we are prepared. I participated in Dude Be Nice by dressing up and creating a card for Ms. Van Vuren that was given to her at the rally. I also assisted the spirit commissioners in taking spirit counts throughout the spirit week. I was gone during the process of the CASL write up but I communicated with my team leader and everything has been taken care of. This month I also took my headshot photo for my website which I am excited but also scared to see. I have also signed up to volunteer at Colony Oak on November 18 for the community service project run by the ASB Vice Presidents. Standing Committee: I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committee: I am currently the group leader for the door decorating committee. Concerns: One concern that I have is the involvement of the leadership program. We expect others to attend our events so I think that it’s important to also support our clubs and other groups on campus. We have a large influence on the student body so we should be spirited and involved to encourage others to as well. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Mackenzie Loechler. She always has so much on her plate and is still able to balance everything. One Change: One change that I would like to see is more opportunities for the class to bond. I feel like we’re always busy with our work, are trying to be competitive, or just stay with our same group of people. Although we should be going out of our ways to do this ourselves, different activities could give us a nudge in the right direction so it’s not so forced. My Impact:I have impacted the world by being kind to others. I always try my best to be approachable and open to others. For example, in class I always try to smile at everyone and make sure to laugh at the teacher’s jokes. It’s important to make others feel seen and acknowledged.

December ASB Report
Position Assessment: As Public Relations Coordinators Katie and I have not had many responsibilities retaining our position however we have been doing all that we can to help our class. Personally, I’ve been assisting the spirit commissioners throughout Warm and Fuzzy week with taking spirit counts and also participating in the daily dress up days. I also attended the Night Rally where I enjoyed singing Christmas carols with my friends. As of right now our main job has been assisting our class and supporting our campus’ programs. Standing Committee: I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committee: I was the group leader for the Christmas door decorating that was done on December 4. I’m really proud of our group and how successful our doors went up. We were able to come up with cut outs of the doors ahead of time using measurements and then on the days the doors went up all we had to do was attach tape to the doors and tape the outlines to the door. Mentorship: Recently Elias and I have been able to get closer with the mentorship seating. We have continued to catch up with what is going on in each other’s lives and always end up just joking around with each other. I personally enjoy when we see each other in the halls and exchange the dad wave. Concerns: One concern that I have is about involving the student body. I know that we create flyers, use announcements, and post on social media but it always seems like people are clueless when it comes to the events held at Ripon High School. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Mina. Mina somehow is always able to make my day so much better with his compliments and jokes. I’ve been able to see the large impact that Mina has had first hand. As soon as I saw him I instantly started smiling and it makes me grateful that I’ve been able to create a closer friendship with him. One Change: With the recent study buddy nights I’ve found that I really enjoy having time with my friends to simply just get school work done and I think that it is something that could be implemented throughout the school years perhaps a monthly study hall. My Impact: I believe that I have changed the world by being there for others. Even though it seems like a small act it makes a big difference. I always try to be there for others whether that’s listening to their problems, smiling at someone I pass in the hallways, or even something as simple as telling someone that I’m there for them when they need someone. In this day and age people will always need someone that they can rely on and trust no matter what. I hope that I can be that person for others.
Payton Miller-Kay Public Relations Coordinator 5 February, 2023
January ASB Report
Position Assessment: During the month of December Katie and I have participated in all things winterfest and upcoming events. In regards to winterfest we worked at Lucia’s family barn creating the bleacher poster and decorations for the shopping cart. We also came to school early to cut and paste the pieces of the poster onto the bleachers. There were some struggles with our Lip Sync with participation and commitment but I was able to choreograph and create our Candy Crush themed dance performance for the night rally. For the upcoming Valentines day hearts we have been working to put each person’s name and message on hearts. We also created an announcement form to be read on February 14th telling people to come by and pick up their hearts. We have also signed up to volunteer for the Almond Blossom Parking lot. Standing Committees: I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committees: I am currently a part of the Almond Blossom Parking Lot, College Reveal, and The Challenge committees. Mentorship Evaluation: I am really glad to have gotten Sofia for the mentorship program because I feel like we haven’t really been able to get a chance to get to know each other that well. About a week ago we went to lunch together at Coffee House and I feel it went really well. We talked about our classes, the upcoming elections, and basically just things going on in our lives. I’m really glad we got to hangout together and I’m excited for the upcoming bonding activities for mentors. Concerns: One concern that I have is seating in class. I really enjoy the people at my curriculum table but also I like to sit with other people as well. It’s frustrating when people take advantage of our choice of seating when others are still able to be productive. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Abby Campos. Abby has always been so sweet and welcoming towards me and I feel like we get along really well. I really enjoy talking to her in class and laughing about the most random things. One Change: One change I would like to see is more “low risk” activities with our mentors. In the link crew try out we talked about starting new groups with topics that aren’t a risk in order to build a foundation of trust and comfortability as well. It’s good to get to know each other on a deeper level but I think that for just getting to know our mentors we should do My Impact: I feel I have made an impact by supporting others. I only want the best for the people that I care about and love being able to help them in any way so that they’ll be able to succeed.

The Challenge ASB Report
1. What committee(s) have you been placed on, explain them, what is your role? I am currently a part of many committees. One of those being College Reveal. As of right now I have not been informed of anything regarding this event however I know that I will attend the event and aid in setting/cleaning up along with ensuring that the event runs smoothly. I also volunteered for the almond blossom festival parking lot and had my mother assist as well. Right now I am currently the head of publicity along with Ava Keast. I have created four digital posters, two for social media and two that will be printed and laminated to be hung around the school along with fliers. We have created sketches for the handmade posters to be hung and will create them closer towards the week of May 19. We are also creating an instagram reel to publicize the event and have written two announcement forms, one for the week of the dance and one for the day of. 2. What did you contribute during the week to the committee work and presentation for next week? During the week of the committee work and presentation I led in all things publicity for the dance. I created four different Canva posts, assisted in announcement forms, created sketches of handmade posters, and came up with the idea to highlight the event in an instagram reel which will be created later on. 3. What will you be in charge of the week of the challenge? During the week of the challenge I will be ensuring that all social media posts/ posters are released to the school. This means sending social media posts to Morty and making sure they are posted. I will also be in charge of creating handmade posters which will be hung up the week of the dance and the creation/filming of the instagram reel. 4. What are some pros that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items? Some pros that I saw during this week while planning and executing various items was how well everyone worked together. From my perspective there were no arguments or disagreements. It was really cool to see everyone in action and collaborating. 5. What are some cons that you saw during this week while planning and executing various items? Some cons that I saw during this week was that people were coming up with excuses to not do their work regarding the challenge. Even though we had many assignments, everyone still had the same amount so by not doing their work and left more for everyone else to do on top of the assignments that they already had to do. It’s okay to take breaks here and there but some people weren’t even trying to make it look like they were doing work. 6. What will you be speaking about in the formal presentation? In the formal presentation I will be talking about the posters that were created for the dance, the sketches for the handmade posters, the announcement forms that were made, and instagram reel that will be made. For the instagram reel we will be recreating a take on the “what song are you listening to” trend where we drop a piece of paper with all of the information regarding the dance on it and then the cameraman tries to get the person’s attention but the person that dropped it goes “Oh my gosh I love this trend. Summer by Calvin Harris.” 7. What is your overall opinion of the event idea? I believe that if everyone does their assigned tasks and follows through with their responsibilities, this event will run really smoothly and will be successful among the student body. We have put a lot of thought into the different aspects of the Challenge and from what I’ve seen we’ve come up with a lot of new ideas and have planned for any obstacles along the way. I really like that we are including everyone in our event from teachers, to students, and incoming students. If everything goes as planned I think that this will be a very impactful and memorable event. 8. Do you believe this class will be successful in planning and executing this event? As stated previously, I do believe that this class will be successful in planning and executing the event as long as everyone executes their assigned task fully. I believe that this event has been planned very well, including many of the little details that many have otherwise overlooked. I think that everything has been thoughtfully planned, now it is just a matter of seeing if everyone will follow through with their word. 9. What should be done to peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs? I think that peers in the class that do not fulfill their jobs should receive a different, much lower grade than the rest of the class. Although we should be holding each other accountable for following through with their jobs, at the end of the day people will do whatever they want no matter what it is that you say. You could remind someone every single day to do something and they could still just simply choose to not do it so I don’t think that the entire class should be punished for the irresponsibility of someone else. 10. What is your favorite aspect of this event? What are you most excited for? I have a lot of things that I’m looking forward to with this event. My favorite aspect is the involvement and inclusivity. From what I’ve seen we as a class haven’t really reached out to the incoming freshman so I think that this will be a great opportunity to give them a little glimpse into highschool life. I know that we will be able to give them lots of valuable advice that they will hopefully be able to apply to real life. I also really enjoy that we are including clubs in the End of the Year Dance. I think that this will give the clubs a great opportunity for them to promote their group and be involved with the school along with the student body being able to support them.
April & May ASB Report
Position Assessment: Throughout the months of April and May Katie and I have been quite busy. We worked with Morty to create notes before spring reading “Thank you for lifting us up. Have a great break!” that were attached to a balloon which was blown up during zero period. Then during the fourth period we handed them out to the teachers and administrators. We also created individual posters for each of the boy’s volleyball players that were printed and hung up for their senior night. We have also been creating posts for spirit days and assisting spirit with spirit counts during senior week. We also helped to set up for tribe awards and will be assisting with college reveal as well. Individually, I have been working on things for the challenge such as announcement forms and publicity posts. I have also created a google form that is waiting to be approved for the mentorship program next year. Standing Committees: I am not a part of a standing committee at this time. Special Committees: I am a part of the college reveal committee and will help set up and clean up for the event on May 11th. Mentorship Evaluation: Sofia is such a kind person that I’ve been so glad to be able to get to know! We have both been very busy with the end of the year coming up and AP exams but are planning to have another lunch soon! Concerns: My main concern is about what next school year is going to be like. A lot of things will be different and I want to make sure that I am still doing my best in everything that I do. I’m not sure exactly what to expect. Positive Comment: My positive comment is for Devin Fitzpatrick. Devin is someone that always makes my day and has become someone I can rely on to be there for me when I need him. One Change: One change that I would like to see in the leadership program is more random acts of kindness. It doesn't have to be anything big but even something as simple as handing out flowers on campus can completely change the atmosphere of our school. My Impact:I have impacted the world by being kind to others. I always try my best to be approachable and open to others. For example, during spirit counts I always try to smile at everyone and make sure to laugh at the teacher’s jokes. It’s important to make others feel seen and acknowledged.
